Choose a finish for the room
Matt finishes soften the look of walls; more washable products can be practical in busy areas. Compare the manufacturer’s guidance for the actual surface and use.
Preparation comes first
Loose coatings, greasy surfaces and underlying damp can undermine a new finish. Identify the cause of defects before painting rather than simply covering them.
Compare the whole system
Consider coverage, preparation, primer, number of coats and drying conditions alongside the tin price. Ask for those details in a written quote.
Old surfaces deserve care
Avoid sanding or disturbing unidentified old coatings. If hazardous materials may be present, arrange an appropriate assessment before preparation work.
